The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Audiobook
This summer, Random House Audio, OverDrive and First Book partnered to produce a “community-sourced” audiobook. This project, dubbed Lend Your Voice, asked hundreds of amateur narrators to add their voices to a recording of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz during one hot weekend in June during the American Library Association Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. All of the narrators did a great job—most nailed it in one take and wanted to read more! The resulting recording is full of fantastic voices, from Lillian Imhoff, our youngest participant at age 6, to Rebecca Stead, this year’s Newbery Medal winner (for When You Reach Me). Many other authors attending the conference took time out of their busy schedules to record a page, including Ken Burns, Christopher Paul Curtis, Julia Alvarez, Libba Bray, Holly Black, Cory Doctorow, Dennis Lehane, Jon Scieszka, Michele Norris, Grace Lin, and Roy Blount, Jr., just to name a few. Thank you to everyone who participated!
